Roy F. Rodríguez was born in Palmares, Alajuela, Costa Rica in 1973. At the age of 7, he began his sculptural work creating clay figurines since that was the material he had at his reach.
At approximately 11 years of age he began to carve on wood, he began carving on coffee roots, an abundant material in his area.
Aged 14, he moved from Palmares to Sabanilla de Montes de Oca, where he got the opportunity to visit La Escuela de Bellas Artes from the Universidad de Costa Rica (UCR), where he reaffirmed his passion for sculpture. When he finished high school he began attending La Escuela de Bellas Artes of the Universidad de Costa Rica and began his professional career as a sculptor, he specializes in realism and anatomy, as well as in his avant-garde line of proposal where he establishes his aesthetic, which include: the abstract, synthesis and minimalism. With a work full of passion and beauty.
Made of many diverse materials, which include: marble, bronze, stone, wood, quartz, copper, aluminum, resins, and any material within his reach. Regarding sizes; he can make miniatures of 5 centimeters up to 15 meter long sculptures.
Poetry, painting, and drawing are also important parts of his production, much of his work can be found in Switzerland, New York, Miami, Greece, and in Costa Rica, in different private collections.
Currently, the sculptor remains active, maintaining his focus on his artistic work and continually facing new challenges
